Melbourne Service Hub: Exams


When exams are coming up, here is what you need to know and what is expected of you during this time!

Our policy outlines the key points:

  • Exam week is held in Week 13 of each trimester. 
  • You are required to sit your examination at the scheduled date and time, unfortunately you won't be able to reschedule your exam due to a planned holiday or special event. If you have a special circumstance that will affect your ability to sit your scheduled exam, you need to submit an Application for Assessment Special Consideration Form to the Program Director by Thursday of Week 10 at the latest. If your special request is approved, an early exam will be held on Friday of Week 12.
  • Please check your Subject Code/Name to ensure you attend the correct exam session
  • Seating allocations will be posted outside each room before the exam commences
  • Familiarise yourself with Examination Procedures.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to exam start time so that you an find your allocated room and desk
  • You are responsible for notifying your Program Director and Student Services of any clash in your examination timetable within five working days of the examination timetable release.
  • If you arrive to the examination up to 30 minutes after the published start time, you will be allowed to enter the examination room, but will not be allowed any additional time to complete the examination.
  • If you arrive more than 30 minutes after the published start time you will not be allowed to enter the examination room, and will receive a zero mark for that examination.
  • You must bring with you, and display your Student ID card on your desk. If you fail to do so, you must provide an alternative form of photographic identification such as a passport or driver’s license. If you do not provide acceptable photographic identification, you may not be permitted to sit the examination, at the invigilator’s discretion.

Please remember that exam results will be withheld if you have any outstanding library fines. You can check if you have fines on the Think Library site – just login, go to “My Account” and check “Fines and Fees”

Supplementary exams

Please ensure that you check your results (via My Torrens) as soon as they are available. If you have been granted a supplementary exam/assessment it is your responsibility to be aware of this, and be available during the secondary exam period. Please be ensure to check your student emails reguarly. 

Supplementary exam/assessment (HE only)

If you have attempted all the assessment items for a subject, and record a final mark from 45% to 49%, or if you have been granted special consideration, you will be allowed to attempt a supplementary assessment, unless the subject specifically precludes supplementary assessments.

If your final mark is below 45%, you may be granted a supplementary assessment (SA) at the discretion of the Exam Committee (e.g. if you have submitted a special consideration application).

You will need to pass your supplementary assessment to be granted a supplementary pass (SP) for the subject.
