Melbourne Service Hub: Getting Oriented

Getting started content page

Orientation is all about the community, tools and resources you'll need to succeed.
Whether you study online or on-campus, this week is an important rite of
passage for new students. Don't miss out.

On-campus Orientation

What you'll learn during O-Week

On-campus Orientation will give you everything you need to succeed in your first trimester of study. Here's what you'll get out of it:

  • meet your lecturers and classmates
  • familiarise yourself with campus facilities
  • get to know your student support teams
  • get to know later year students
  • learn all about the Library
  • log in to your portals
  • pick up your student ID card
  • ask questions, eat food and have fun!

By attending Orientation, you'll be able to find your classroom easily in Week 1, know your way around the Library and sit next to a friend in class. It's a great way to start!

International Student Orientation

As an international student, you'll need to attend a special Orientation as part of your visa requirements.

It's a fun and informative session and we'll teach you a little bit about Australian culture at the same time!

You will be a part of our on-campus Orientation with all of your Aussie classmates and your unique session will be at the start of the program. Put the date in your diary now and don't miss it! We can't wait to meet you.

Don't forget to register!

Online Orientation

Online Orientation (O-Orientation) is a dedicated resource to help new students navigate study life online. It is open to all new students but is especially useful for those who study remotely.

At O-Orientation you'll learn about:

  • creating a study space at home (or at the office, or at a friend's house!)
  • your IT requirements
  • Library and learning resources
  • the skills you already have (and how they'll help you to succeed)
  • support services just for you
  • plus more

And, you'll get to meet lots of other students in the forums who are studying in your faculty.

Your Online Orientation

But don't forget...

All online students are invited to attend an On-campus Orientation closest to them! Come along to meet your academic and student community, and get prepared for the road ahead. Get in touch with Student Services to discuss which campus will be best for you to visit.

Ps. If you’re going to attend (hooray!), you’ll need to register up above.
